New Yorkers forget Barney’s CO-OP. Londoners forget Top Shop. Neither of these stores have ANYTHING on Colette. Colette is an interesting design concept store in Paris, France. You can get everything from music and books, to young and hip designer threads. I think you can even get food there! Shopping in Colette is truly an experience and when I visit Paris this summer I will definitely bring back insights into the goodies they have. When are they opening a branch in NYC??? The trendy set here would be there in droves. They have cool glasses by Cazal x Dita and trendy shirts by Ksubi x Cory.
One of the reasons I wanted to do a post about this store is that Colette is showing pieces by the Swiss artist Comenius Roethlisberger on the ground floor of their Paris store. The exhibition is entitled “Dearest Constellation, Sweetest Invitation”. Roethlisberger uses powdered sugar and cocaine (yes, that yayo) suspended in resin boxes to create the logos of many of the top fashion designers. Cocaine and fashion…well, that’s new!
For all you New York Fashionistas, this show will be in the city from March 26 – March 28 at SCOPE.
I swear I am. I will do ANYTHING for a bag. I love high end bags, bags that are worth more than a mortgage payment, and even bags bought on the sidewalk in Soho. I LOVE LOVE LOVE handbags! I think it was Wendy Williams who said one time on her nationally syndicated radio show that bags and accessories are a fat girl’s true vice when it comes to fashion. Why? Since we can’t fit the clothes and maybe even the shoes, we buy up everything else.
That is so true about me. Before I got Lasik surgery I wore Chanel glasses and carried an authentic Chanel wallet. I have all of the Burberry fragrances along with the matching travel case that was ”the free gift” with purchase. I even own a pair of pink, Chanel double “C” earrings that were all the rage about 5 years ago. This, all because I couldn’t walk into Chanel and purchase couture in my size.
Slowly but surely, designers are coming around. Norma Kamali has put out a few plus size pieces such as this red, side drape dress made out of polyester and spandex. It goes up to 3x, but I’m not sure if it’s worth $298. We’ll just have to see… you know I ordered it! But until more designers go beyond standard sizing, I’ll continue to be a bag whore and lust after the following:
or maybe this… from Chloe. And finally, no fashionista’s bag game is correct without a little something from LV. This tote would look perfect on my trip to Paris and Provence this summer!
