A few weeks ago I mentioned that Vogue Italia would be creating an all black edition of the magazine. According to those wonderful girls over at Fashionista.com, it looks like IMAN will grace the cover. I-can’t-wait!!!
Standing in line at the 70% off sale at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store in Greenwich Village the other day, I really started to wonder who this designer is. I love his clothes and his clutches are sick. His over the top attitude and commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS is commendable and passionate, but his recent antics are truly 730!!!
Did anyone see his costume for his Arabian Nights themed Christmas party last December? He came as a camel toe. LOL!

Apparently now, Mr. Jacobs wants his own reality TV show. I WANT TO SEE THIS!! I don’t even want it to be about fashion per se, I just want to follow him around in all of his fabulosity and watch the train wreck AS-IT-HAPPENS. Television land, you are missing out on a great opportunity here. Marc Jacobs! You betta work!!!
Wouldn’t you love to see this for 30 minutes?
Well, maybe you should. News has been bubbling about her for a while. She was one of the few minorities featured on MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen a few years ago. Her parents hooked her up with a phat ride. (Go girl!) Now she’s the newest edition to Pharrell’s Star Track label and the face of his fashion lines, Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Sneakers. While her first album, From A Planet Called Harlem won’t drop for a minute, I thought I’d give her a quick once over.
I checked out her tune, “Google Me,” and it’s pretty good considering what the music industry is putting out right now. I work in the music biz and couldn’t feign interest even if you made me, but Teyana’s song is catchy and will probably do well.
Watching her video I can see that Pharrell needed to replace Kelis. This video reminds me so much of most of Kelis’ videos. But I do like that she’s rockin’ bright colors and creating a style of her own. The diva, Nawja Moses of styleaholics.com interviewed her recently about her look and working in the fashion biz.
According to VIBE:
Fashion has always been crucial for Teyana. Though her mother decked her out in Coogi sweaters and Gucci shoes, she now prefers an ’80s-inspired tomboy look — dookie ropes, hoodies, and sneakers galore. The day she auditioned for Pharrell at New York’s Four Seasons Hotel, they clicked instantly because both were sporting the same pair of red-and-pink Ice Cream sneakers.
Wearing the same sneakers as Pharrell? Way to get the job, Teyana. I like this girl’s swagger. Recently Teyana walked in the Zac Posen fashion show for fashion week. That’s a good look. And big up to Zac Posen for being another company that looked outside the box for inspiration and models. Check her out below, rockin’ Zac Posen!
Teyana, I hope the music thang goes well but if not you definitely could have a place in fashion!

America we are missing out! Across the pond, in London, England there is a FASHIONISTA/style consultant and television diva who, if in New York would be putting everyone to shame. His name is Gok Wan and he’s the host of the UK (read:original) version of “How to Look Good Naked.” I love Carson Kressley (the US host of “How to Look Good Naked“) as much as the next chick, but Gok is the truth! I caught an episode of Gok’s version last year while in England and I like his no nonsense approach to dressing and style. I find Carson’s show to be preachy and overly positive to the point of annoyance. Take a look at a quick video of Gok on a British style show.
Fierce, right? He betta WORK!!! I like how he is obsessed with shape and buying clothes that work for your body.
Search for him on Youtube.com. There are many videos of him and soon you’ll be a Gok-ette as well!

So I went to see that God awful movie, Semi-Pro with Will Farrell. The best thing about the whole movie was the newly cut preview of the Sex and the City movie. The previous trailer was so cryptic. Anyhoo. Now we know Big’s full name… John James Preston. Hmmm… not sure if I like it. But I think I’m beginning to put the story together.
Is it just me or does Cynthina Nixon (Miranda) look like she’s had some work done around the eyes? And doesn’t Jennifer Hudson look cute?

You may not know that I’m obsessed with anything Gucci. But who wouldn’t be? Check out the Grease High-Heel Platform Sandal in Tomato. OMG… they come in my size…Size 12. You can get them here.
Ajuma Nasenyana was born in Kenya in 1984. Her look is so striking, but honestly you probably haven’t seen much of her unless you have been to London Fashion week or read French Vogue. For some reason many designers, agencies and magazines don’t want to use her or other ethnic models. But when Ajuma does get to strut down the catwalk she is unbelievable. Check out Ajuma in this youtube video. The video is pretty long, but she’s at 3:02.
In 2003, Ajuma won Miss Tourism Kenya and was actively scouted and articles were written about her. Wikipedia states:
“Gamma photo agency came to Kenya to do a story on [the Surazuri Agency’s] scouting work and were so taken with the 5’10 beauty that she became the main feature of the story, which late ran in Gala Magazine, France. The pictures that were taken on this shoot were to provide the basis for Nasenyana’s portfolio, and these were duly presented to top international agency Ford Models, who signed her up for the Ford Models Supermodel of the World Competition.”

I swear I am. I will do ANYTHING for a bag. I love high end bags, bags that are worth more than a mortgage payment, and even bags bought on the sidewalk in Soho. I LOVE LOVE LOVE handbags! I think it was Wendy Williams who said one time on her nationally syndicated radio show that bags and accessories are a fat girl’s true vice when it comes to fashion. Why? Since we can’t fit the clothes and maybe even the shoes, we buy up everything else.
That is so true about me. Before I got Lasik surgery I wore Chanel glasses and carried an authentic Chanel wallet. I have all of the Burberry fragrances along with the matching travel case that was “the free gift” with purchase. I even own a pair of pink, Chanel double “C” earrings that were all the rage about 5 years ago. This, all because I couldn’t walk into Chanel and purchase couture in my size.
Slowly but surely, designers are coming around. Norma Kamali has put out a few plus size pieces such as this red, side drape dress made out of polyester and spandex. It goes up to 3x, but I’m not sure if it’s worth $298. We’ll just have to see… you know I ordered it! But until more designers go beyond standard sizing, I’ll continue to be a bag whore and lust after the following:
or maybe this… from Chloe. And finally, no fashionista’s bag game is correct without a little something from LV. This tote would look perfect on my trip to Paris and Provence this summer!
by Louis Vuitton.
